Just as fad diets will eventually mess up your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight - Continually going from one fad "belief system" to another will mess up your spiritual discernment and make it harder to recognize the truth.  Just before we left the last church we were at, they were into "breaking generational curses" and asking forgiveness for our ancestors "all the way back to Adam and Eve".

We had a friend who was doing that stuff. She was even saying that some should change their name because curses are attached to names.

Thank God, that you and your wife walked away.  And I know when you do that, they tend to try to make you believe you have the problem.  Because I addressed a lie coming across the pulpit and said it was a lie before leaving the church, I was ostracized by the brothers and sisters I had walked with for a good many years.  At that time I believed if a lie was being presented, all would want to know.  I was very wrong.

Being alone is where I really got to know God better.  He never wastes anything.
